VIS 1016A - Ceramics I
This course is designed to introduce students to the basic forming and decorative techniques in ceramics. Historical and contemporary references will be presented to serve as visual resources for the class. Students will learn how decoration reinforces decisions made in the form and how these two elements of ceramics work together and support one another. Students will participate in the entire ceramic sequence: from hand-building to wheel throwing, glazing, an introduction to the process of kiln firings and healthy studio practices.
