SOC 1001A - Intro to Sociology I
A first step toward systematic analysis of contemporary society. Introduces sociology on a broad base for students interested in majoring in Sociology-Anthropology and other social sciences. For students in other disciplines, the course corrects common, over-simplified conceptions of our society. Basic concepts of sociology; methods and theories used by sociologists; analysis of human culture, status and role; groups and associations; socialization and conformity; deviance and control.
