|NSC 2006C - Scientific Model &Prob Solving|
**Students will be introduced to techniques of scientific
modeling and problem solving utilizing spreadsheet
software. The modeling includes applications of
geometric, linear, quadratic, exponential, logistic, and
probability models. Applications are chosen that attempt
to explain the nature of the universe and include models
used in ecology and astronomy. Problem solving heuristics
are discussed throughout the course and developed in
conjunction with the models discussed.
**In both NSC 2005C and NSC 2006C, the student will be
expected to write technical reports on classroom exercises.
Students must also complete an individual modeling and
experimental design experience involving the gathering,
analyzing and interpretation of numerical data.
