ENG 3148A - Topics in the Lit of Diversity
These courses will explore the experiences and literary contributions of the diverse social, ethnic, and religious groups that comprise America through a cultural examination of poetry, drama, and prose. Each offering will introduce students not only to specific writers but also to the music, art, and political/social events that have shaped those authors' work. Course topics may include "Contemporary Jewish American Writers"; "Three Giants of Jewish-American Literature: Singer, Bellow & Roth"; "The Native American Experience"; "The Gay and Lesbian Experience"; "Contemporary Asian-American Writers": "Voices from the Barrio." Prerequisite: ENG 1001A.
