EDA 7307 - Intro Assess & Research Meth
This stand-alone introduction to research and assessment may also be taken as the first part of a two-part course sequence to prepare students to interpret student data, to construct student assessments, and to carry out research in various settings. This course will introduce graduate students both to informal and formal assessment procedures while highlighting the strong links between such assessments and the research enterprise. In terms of assessment, the course will provide students with the opportunity to interpret data and to develop assessment instruments. In terms of research, the course will introduce students to a variety of research methods and designs from various approaches including action and experimental research, quantitative and qualitative research, and evaluation research. The course will also teach students how to evaluate research findings and to understand the ways in which assessment impacts these evaluations. Finally, the course will introduce students to various technologies currently in use while describing their links to assessment and research.
