ECN 1001A - Introductory Macroeconomics
Introduces the basic principles of macroeconomics, which is the study of the performance of the economy as a whole. Covers theories of economic growth and recession; the determination of income, interest rates, and their movement over time; the causes of inflation and unemployment; and government policies that can be used to improve the overall performance of the economy. The position of the United States in the world economy is also discussed. Students taking this course are expected to develop a sophisticated understanding of the economic issues at the forefront of the news and policy debates of the day. Anyone desiring basic macroeconomic literacy would benefit from this course.
